UAE-Syria travel: Etihad Airways begins new Abu Dhabi-Damascus flights
New service supports business and family travel demand
ABU DHABI – Etihad Airways has launched its new service connecting Abu Dhabi and Damascus, expanding its footprint in the Levant and creating a direct link between the UAE capital and one of the region’s most historically significant cities.
The new route began operations on Sunday, with the airline introducing four weekly flights to meet rising demand from travellers between the two destinations.
The service is expected to support travel for the Syrian community in the UAE, business passengers and families seeking convenient connections.
Flight schedule
The Abu Dhabi-Damascus route will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday using Etihad Airways’ Airbus A321 aircraft. The aircraft offers passengers modern onboard facilities while supporting efficient operations across the airline’s expanding network.
Etihad said the launch forms part of its strategy to strengthen connectivity with key regional markets and provide more travel options through Abu Dhabi. The airline continues to grow its global presence by adding routes that connect passengers to important destinations worldwide.

Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, said the new service highlights the airline’s focus on improving regional connectivity and delivering more convenient travel options. He described Damascus as a city with deep cultural and historical importance.
Passengers travelling from Damascus will also be able to access onward connections through Abu Dhabi to more than 70 destinations across Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and North America. These connections are supported by the facilities and streamlined passenger experience available at Zayed International Airport.
